The vice presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party( PDP), Ifeanyi Okowa, has pledged to work with the party’s presidential flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar, to deliver the country.
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has thanked Atiku Abubakar for picking him as his handling mate, noting that the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP) needs to return to power.
The Delta State leader said this on Thursday while accepting his nomination to be Atiku’s running mate in coming time’s presidential election.
Okowa, who said there’s work ahead for members of the party, called on them to work inclusively. There’s no mistrustfulness that there’s a great work ahead of each and every one of us.
The figure- reverse process is going to be collaborative and we’re trusting that all our party members will want to be part of that story at the end of the day, he said.
Senator Okowa, who made the comment hours after Atiku picked him as running mate, will finish his alternate term as the Delta State governor coming time.
Atiku had earlier explained that he chose the former legislator after consultations with leaders of the party.
He said a commission was set up to help him with the choice of a running mate( from three persons shortlisted persons) but he picked the Delta State leader.
He, still, admitted that it was a delicate decision. According to him, while all three names submitted were good, he’d to settle for just one Okowa.
The former vice president said he looked out for someone who had experience, understands, and can proffer results to the challenges facing the country
Okowa said he’d join forces with Atiku and other stakeholders in the country to deliver Nigeria from the cliff.
Okowa, who’s also the Delta State Governor, made the pledge on Thursday shortly after he was announced as the running mate to the main opposition party’s presidential flagbearer.
I pledge to join hands with His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the leaders and stakeholders of our party, and all nationalistic Nigerians to deliver our country from the precipice
