The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress presidential screening commission, John Oyegun, on Friday said 99 percent of its presidential applicants agreed to support a agreement candidate.
Mr Oyegun made the comment while presenting the commission’s report to the National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Adamu.
We engaged every applicant on the issue of agreement, he told Adamu. It’s a affable surprise that 99 percent agreed that the party is supreme.
And that whatever the party decides with proper discussion they will probably accept. Only one exception, who said I’ll accept agreement only if it’s for me. I suppose it’s a point that needs to be made and emphasised.
So that gives you a lot of latitude in the hours ahead to trim down indeed more drastically. But eventually we suppose we shouldn’t be hysterical of a queried primary if anybody insists on a contest.
10 disqualified
Mr Oyegun had blazoned that it disqualified 10 out of the 23 applicants screened for the exercise. According to Mr Oyegun, only 13 out of the 23 applicants screened were cleared by the commission.
Still when asked about the identity of the disqualified applicants, Mr Oyegun declined to expose the names.
Mr Oyegun added that contrary to rumours making the rounds, it did n’t screen former chairman Goodluck Jonathan.
The commission held the webbing exercise between Monday and Tuesday this week. Unobstructed aspirant are anticipated to dispute the presidential primary at a listed special convention in Abuja between June 6 and 8.
