The two labour centers, the Nigeria Labour Congress( NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria( TUC), declared their support to crusade and do everything within their power to insure that the Labour Party presidential flagbearer wins emerges victorious in the 2023 general election
They declared their support in a separate speech made by their chairpersons at the 10th anniversary lecture in honour of the labour stager, late Conrade Pascal Bayau in Abuja
Delivering his speech, the NLC President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, said that Mr Obi is among the finest Nigerian and the first presidential flagbearer of Labour Party to be honored by the labour Centre.
He still, declared NLC support NLC for the Labour Party and her seeker, Peter Obi. He said that the NLC will completely rally to insure the victory of the party come 2023 general choices.
Wabba noted that it came material for the organised labour to completely share in campaigning to insure that the candidate whose mantra will make life better for his members and Nigerians at large triumphs the election
After the union realised that strikes and demurrers alone can not change the narratives in Nigeria, especially as it conserns workers weal and fair treatment to the working people.
On his part, TUC President, Comrade Quadri Olaleye, said that all the labour unions are pleased and are ready to work with Peter Obi and that the entire labour movement has accepted, espoused and will support, and insure workers bounce largely for him in the 2023 presidential choices.
While describing the party as one who has a redoubtable and wide structure, he stressed that there’s a worker and in utmost cases, members of either TUC and NLC in every family across Nigeria.
In his address, Mr Peter Obi, said his visit to the leadership of the two labour centres wasn’t to crusade but for a courtesy call, to recognize the Organised Labour on whose party and interest he’s seeking Nigerians vote in the 2023 general choices.
According to him, My commitment is to move Nigeria from consumption to product and you ca n’t talk about product without labour.
Labour is the machine of product, Capital and machine can do anything but labour is what makes it work. Because labour is the topmost contributor to product, it has to be duly remunerated.
I do n’t need to tell you how bad effects are in this country today. However, moment Nigerians spend 100 percent of their stipend on just feeding, if you’re on stipend.
So numerous do n’t indeed know where their coming mess will come from. They pay to train their children only for them finish academy and stay at home without work.
These are issues we need to bandy about. nothing can be chairman without sitting down with the labour organisation to decide the future of Nigeria.
We can nolonger have a situation where the leaders are then and workers are there. They must sit on the same table and talk. That’s the morning of the result, that’s what’s passing each over the world.
Nigeria isn’t a producing country. The collaborative effect of what we’re suffering moment is bad leadership. We’ve a leadership that concentrates on sharing.
So you have to move from participating formula to product formula. This is a country of 200 million people sitting on923,000 square kilometers of land. They ca n’t feed themselves, they ca n’t export anything.
Total Nigeria’s import including oil painting is under$ 2 billion for 200 million population. A analogous country, not a first world country, one with the same tragectory with Nigeria in the time 2000, Vetnam,
Sitting on,331,000 square kilometers of land, a third of Nigeria’s land space and 100 million population, with half of Nigeria’s population, their total earnings last time was$ 312 billion.
He went on to say that borrowing isn’t the problem of the country as other countries are also adopting to support their profitable development drive.
He said that further than half of the country’s youths of productive age are jobless. This is what the Labour Party is seeking to sit down to bandy for the future of our country. He added.
