N150 Billion Loan: Okowa Planning To Use Delta Money To Fund Atiku Campaign – Omo-Agege; The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Campaign Organisation in Delta State

Has raised the alarm that, the Governor of Delta State and a vice presidential flagbearer of the Official Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, was allegedly planning to use his state funds to finance Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s campaign in 2023 general election.

The crusade organisation, which belongs to the Delta State governorship flagbearer, Senator Ovie Omo- Agege, in a statement inked by its Director, Communications and Media Strategy, Ima Niboro, on Friday,

Said the alarm came necessary in the light of believable intelligence at its disposal that the 2023 general election is a PDP conduit pipe to maraud the state.

It noted that the use of taxpayers ’ finances and collaborative coffers of Deltans to fund particular political intentions was inferior, callous and inhuman.

It’s sad that on a day the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike approved immediate payment of outstanding gratuities, pension arrears and death benefits for retirees of Rivers State Public Service, the Delta State House of Assembly approved N25 billion loan for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa allegedly to plant win trees.

This is coming slightly 49 days after the embattled PDP candidate Okowa’s yea- man and Speaker of the state assembly, Rt.Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori or Francis approved a controversial N150 billion loan.

We’ve sufficient grounds to suspect that these loans are being taken to make Atiku’s presidential crusade. We’ll not stand by and watch Okowa bankrupt our people in order to ensky a man who has nothing to offer Deltans in particular and Nigerians in general.

Still, we would n’t be where we’re moment, If Governor Okowa had devoted half of the time he used in pursuing his Vice Presidential ambition to concentrate on governance.

As of moment, the government is owing retirees over seven times of gratuities, pension arrears and death benefits while the state goes on autopilot for Okowa to pursue his particular ambition.

Utmost retirees have resorted to marketable tricycle, popularly called Keke, for survival, some are bedridden, others have abnegated to fate or indeed failed while staying for the present administration to pay their entitlements after 35 times of meritorious service to state and country, the organisation said.

According to the crusade organisation, the path of backwardness and crippling debts which the Okowa government has allegedly doomed the state was undeserved given the huge, abundant mortal and natural coffers that Delta is blessed with.

It, thus, charged the governor to adopt a splint from his counterparts in Rivers, Borno, Ebonyi and other countries that are blazing the trail with heritage systems,

Turning their countries into massive construction spots, while paying outstanding gratuities and pensions, rather than take loans with nothing to show at the end of the day.
