Ahead of Liverpool’s visit to Old Trafford on August 22, Manchester United is apparently planning to introduce their new signing, Casemiro, who is close to leaving Real Madrid, and give him the No. 18 jersey.
The 30-year-old midfielder will be transferred from Real Madrid to Old Trafford in a move worth £70 million, the Red Devils announced on Friday.
The Athletic stated that Casemiro would say goodbye to Real supporters in Spain on Monday morning before departing for Manchester and being greeted by United supporters later that evening.
But there’s a chance that demonstrations will overshadow the Brazilian’s great event. Before the game, some 10,000 United supporters want to protest owner Joel Glazer.
Additionally, there are worries that splinter groups may try to enter the field and obstruct traffic to Old Trafford.
After a disastrous start to the season that left the team in the bottom of the Premier League standings after two games, the American owners have faced more criticism.
The United-Liverpool game scheduled for May 2 of the previous campaign was canceled after large protests resulted in fan and police clashes and team bus obstructions.
When the game was rescheduled, Liverpool prevailed 4-2, but Jurgen Klopp believes his team shouldn’t be forced to fit in an extra game when they would be at fault for any postponement.
The man said, “I truly hope it won’t happen, but if it does, I think we should get the points.”
If United fans don’t want the game to take place, “We have nothing to do with the matter.” The game cannot just be moved around again in an attempt to squeeze it in during a very busy time.
“We will get United, play the game hopefully, and go home,” said Klopp. I have no notion what might take place. However, in a circumstance like this, the opposing team ought to win because they had nothing to do with it. We are ready for the match.
