Erik ten Hag, Manchester United’s boss has said the 2-1 Victory’s against Liverpool is “just the start” of a new era at the club
The Dutch manager, though, benched captain Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo, and was amply rewarded when their team put on a stirring performance to earn a 2-1 victory.
Ten Hag stated, “I wanted a different strategy, a different mindset. We can talk about tactics, but attitude is what makes the difference.
That is what they bring to the field, and that is what makes me happy,” the United manager continued.
“”You can see what they can accomplish because they can play good football because you can see that we bring attitude to the field and there was communication, a fighting spirit, and there was a team,” the coach said.
We must remain humble because this is only the beginning. If we maintain more composure, we will play much better. We have talented individuals; let’s act as a talented team first.
“I told we had to act and not say much, make sure you are a team, combat, and also be brave. It is not always about what we said.”
Former Manchester United captains Roy Keane and Gary Neville, who had previously been very critical of Ten Hag’s team, both expressed their excitement with their team’s success on Sky Sports.
“We haven’t seen anything like what we’ve seen in a year. I’m astonished beyond belief because I didn’t believe it was feasible “Neville stated.
Fans desire running, heart, and passion. They want the players to be concerned, and those Manchester United players did so because they really needed it after the past seven to ten days of awful play.
Everyone has seen what they are capable of, so that can’t be an isolated incident. They’ve established a benchmark for themselves.
“The manager made some significant calls before the game, and the players responded,” continued Keane.
The players gave it their all during the game. They were excellent. You hope that this marks the end of the Ten Hag era.
United entered the match against their old rivals without a Premier League point and looking to avoid five straight league defeats for the first time in 50 years.
They had been outplayed and outfought in their opening two games, which included the embarrassing 4-0 loss to Brentford.
Raphael Varane partnered the outstanding Lisandro Martinez in the center of defense in place of Maguire, and Marcus Rashford took up a central striking role in place of Ronaldo.
This made them dynamic and aggressive right away. Casemiro’s introduction to the Old Trafford crowd before kickoff was another joyous event for Ten Hag and his team.
In reference to the Brazil midfielder, Ten Hag said, “We were talking about leadership, today we had leadership on the pitch, and he is one as well.”
“He is aware of the rules and how to succeed. It is crucial to have someone with his career accomplishments and numerous prizes on the team.
“You need some, and it serves as instruction for young players who haven’t won any trophies, like Varane, Casemiro, and Ronaldo.
“That is what we are trying to do, so I am hopeful that their presence will greatly stimulate the others.
