LaLiga: It’s a blessing to have Lewandowski, he is a natural leader – Xavi

After Barcelona‘s 4-0 victory over Real Valladolid on Sunday at Camp Nou, Xavi Hernandez addressed the media.

Pedri and Sergi Roberto both had goals, and Robert Lewandowski scored twice. The Barça coach said as follows:

Winning: It was not perfect but it was a nice performance. The opening forty minutes were excellent. We then settled down. You must continue to push.

We truly want to repay the support of the crowd, especially in light of the season-opening draw with Rayo Vallecano. The team and the fans will be happy with this outcome.

Lewandowski: It’s a blessing to have him. Apart from the goals, I would highlight his timing..

Everything he does off the ball, which the fans may not notice as much, is fantastic. He naturally takes the lead. Amazingly, he has blended in with the group. He sets an example by working so hard.

Alejandro Balde: He played because he has been doing well, had a strong pre-season, and was deserving of the opportunity. It’s his time, and this is a meritocracy.

However, Jordi [Alba] and Gerard [Pique], who is not playing as much, will have their moments. We have a hard schedule with games every third day and Sevilla the following week.

Everyone will have access to activities and games. I wouldn’t claim that Jordi or Gerard are a replacement. Everyone improves through competition, and it will depend on performances.
