Habeeb Okikola, often known as Portable, a rising star in Nigeria, has criticized Smooth Productions, the organization behind the widely recognized Headies awards for Nigerian music.

The 15th Headies Awards, which were successfully hosted in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, saw Nektunez and Goya Menor receive the Best Street-Hop Song Award; Portable had previously been one of the candidates.

The singer addressed his conflict with the Headies organizers during a live Instagram chat with his followers.

Portable admitted that he is only human and so fallible. He continued by saying that he had experienced a great deal of hurt throughout his life. He also criticized the Next Rated Award category winner.

Portable wrote: “I Love It When Life Hard It Means Something Better Is Coming Nothing Pass GOD. I am bigger than the owner of Headies and the entire organizers. I will be more popular than them forever.”

Also attacking Buju BNXN for winning the next rated award, Portable argued that his songs are more popular than that of Buju.

He further insisted that he is well known in the streets and also the highest paid artiste in the trenches. He added that he earns over N4m per show in the trenches

You may recall that on Tuesday, July 26, the event’s organizers denounced the contentious performer for claiming affiliation with the infamous robbery gang known as “1 Million Boys” in a statement released at the time.

The following is a portion of their statement: “We regret to announce that the organizers of the Headies have decided to disqualify Mr. Okikiola as a nominee at the upcoming 15 Headies Awards following numerous indicting statements made by Mr. Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as “Portable,” and the relentless negative attention that Mr. Okikiola has garnered from the Nigeria Police and the general public in recent times.”

“Mr. Okikiola’s misdeeds on his social media channels have been highlighted by the decision to disqualify him.

On May 25, 2022, he threatened to kill, hurt, or otherwise negatively affect the other nominees in the exact same award categories for which he was nominated;

They are my accolades. If anyone else succeeds, I will request their execution. I’ll ask them to execute the victim. The sponsors will perish if they offer my prize to someone else. Habeeb Okikiola.

In a video posted on his social media accounts on July 18, 2022, Mr. Okikiola claimed to be the leader of the infamous cult group “One Million Boys.”

Over the years, the aforementioned organization became well-known for mutilating and plundering helpless Nigerians. “Have you heard of Ajah boys, One Million Boys?” he said. I put them there.

Additionally, Mr. Habeeb Okikiola recorded himself on June 17, 2022, giving instructions for his friends to attack and harm his alleged friend, DJ Chicken.

He exclaimed, “E na eleyi paa jo,” in his own words. (punish him ruthlessly!)

According to the nomination list that was previously disclosed, the quickly emerging musician Zazuu, who gained popularity with his street song, was vying for the Best Street-Hop Artiste and Rookie of the Year categories.
