According to reports, Manchester United is eager to sign Goncalo Ramos, a rising star at Benfica, in the January transfer window.
The Portuguese striker’s outstanding start to the season has apparently impressed United manager Erik ten Hag, according to sources in The Sun.
The 21-year-old Ramos has six appearances for Benfica during their early Liga Portugal surge, scoring four goals and dishing out two assists.
In the same amount of Champions League qualifying games, he also scored four goals. Ramos is estimated to be worth about £25 million, but his contract has a whopping £ 100 million release clause.
United are reported to have made contact with the player’s agent as The Sun recognise a desire to strengthen this January amid question marks over Cristiano Ronaldo’s future and Anthony Martial’s fitness.
It’s claimed United might come calling as Ten Hag views Ramos as a bargain buy. Ten Hag sanctioned moves for six players during his first window at the United helm.
Antony was their only attack-minded recruit, though, as Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Martin Dubravka were also brought in by the Dutchman following his appointment as manager.
Elsewhere, reports from several online publications suggest United will revive their interest in Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen during the January window.
Osimhen, 23, has long-since been linked with a transfer to Old Trafford having carved out his reputation in Serie A
But don’t transfer According to Fabrizio Romano, it is unlikely that Napoli will sell the attacker in the middle of the campaign. Osimhen joined Napoli two years ago and has since scored 30 goals in 68 games.
The Italians are supposed to value him at nine figures, but numerous other European teams are said to be interested in him, so there may be a roadblock in the way of that potential pursuit.
