Casemiro on not playing in UCL this season, says ‘I already have five

When asked why he will not  participate in the Champions League this season, Manchester United’s Casemiro had an excellent response.

As a result of the Red Devils’ failure to qualify for Europe’s top competition, the incoming manager at Old Trafford will have to contend with Europa League games until at least next year.

In contrast, Casemiro’s former squad at Real Madrid won the Champions League last season and has triumphed in Europe five times in the prior nine seasons.

The 30-year-old, though, seems unconcerned about missing this year’s historic tournament.

He said on ESPN Brasil when asked about not making the Champions League in his first season at United, “Well.. I already have five, don’t I?”

United supporters who like the cheekiness were drawn to the humorous reaction.

“Nah, that’s the most legendary reaction I’ve ever seen,” one person tweeted.

Someone someone chimed up, “Own, yes case!” One United supporter joked, “His next goal is to win the Europa League five times.”

Despite missing the 2014 final, Casemiro had a significant role in all of Madrid’s victories in the European competition.

Alongside Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, he started all the other Champions League final’s games, and in the 2017 4-1 rout of Juventus, he even scored. Just before the Red Devils shocked Liverpool, Casemiro was paraded around Old Trafford.

Manchester United will unveil new signing, Casemiro at Old Trafford tonight

Just before the Red Devils shocked Liverpool, Casemiro was paraded around Old Trafford.

As Erik ten Hag earned his first victory as United manager, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford caused havoc. This victory also stopped the team’s troubling early-season form.

The Dutch boss will be counting on Casemiro to strengthen a midfield that struggled in defeats to Brighton and Brentford.

Given that transfers for Cody Gakpo and Antony Gakpo are reportedly in the works, he might not be the last man to enter Old Trafford.
