2023: Peter Obi Wins Labour Party Presidential Ticket; The former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has emerged as the presidential flagbearer of the Labour Party ahead of the forthcoming 2023 general election in Nigeria.

His emergence as the party’s flagbearer follows his palm at the presidential primary of the Labour Party.

The party conducted the primary for its presidential ticket on Monday in Asaba, Delta State capital.

A aggregate of 185 delegates had been accredited to bounce in the exercise to handpick one of four applicants seeking to decide the party’s presidential ticket.

Still all threeco-contenders Professor Pat Utomi, Olubusola Emmanuel- Tella, and Faduri Joseph
stepped down for Mr Obi.

The former governor settled the Labour Party’s ticket slightly a week after he blazoned his abdication from the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP), as well as his pullout from the primary election of the main opposition party.

In a letter dated May 24, 2022, he lamented that the recent developments within the PDP have made it virtually insolvable for him to continue sharing and making formative benefactions to public development.

He informed the PDP leadership that he’d conveyed his abdication to the Chairman of Agulu Ward 2, his ward in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Three days after his abdication, the former governor pitched his roof with the Labour Party, in his shot to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
