2023: Ohanaeze, Afenifere kick As APC Says No Decision Yet On Zoning

2023: Ohanaeze, Afenifere kick As APC Says No Decision Yet On Zoning; The All Revolutionaries Congress, on Friday in Abuja, said it had yet to determine where it would zone its presidential ticket to.

This came days after the party commenced the trade of nomination and expression of interest forms for colorful electoral services.

The party’s National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, bared this to State House reporters shortly after he presented the party’s guardianship seeker in Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

When asked where the governing party would zone its presidential ticket to, Adamu said such a decision was beyond the National Working Committee and was the appanage of the entire party, which he conceded, was bigger than the president.

You we recall that the APC, during its National Executive Committee meeting last week Wednesday, gave full powers to the NWC led by Adamu, to take opinions on its behalf for 90 days. This empowers the NWC to take critical opinions without blessing from the NEC.

Still, Adamu said, I’m moment privileged to be the president of the party. The party is lesser than me. The party has not made a decision and I can not convert what the party’s decision will be.

We also do know that there are citizens who are good to dispute, but who aren’t serious contenders, who’ll just want to take anything cheap by the roadside and assert what they call their rights and produce problems for our party.

We ’re also apprehensive that some parties that have no chance whatsoever to win the presidential election in Nigeria will finance people to produce problems for us and to divert our attention, whichever party is involved in that.

Adamu also noted that the APC had no regrets about the high cost of nomination forms for applicants seeking optional services.

He noted that the high cost was justified by the party’s need to raise sufficient finances to successfully make the coming choices. He said, On the issue of cost. Yeah, I ’ve been harkening with rapt attention to the tinges and cries from our suckers and our adversaries.

We’ve no regrets whatsoever. We did some schoolwork; we know what it takes to go through primaries, go through presidential juggernauts and go through choices for the President. We know what it takes.

“ Over and above that, yes, we’re the ruling party. Yes, we need to set exemplifications in what we do, but I ask you, I do n’t know which part of the country you come from if God prohibit, your traditional sovereign dies moment, rivals to that office will give further than N100m. It’s no news.

When I queried for the Senate, all I paid was just a commemorative; N5m, N10m, including the expression. When my coworker wanted to be the president of the party in the days of Adams Oshimhole, it bring him N500,.

Moment, for me, just as an illustration, to dispute the public president of our party, I had to pay N20m. The enormity of work that has to be done will be done with the plutocrat. We do n’t want to continue soliciting.

So, I want to say that we ’re suitable to mobilise sufficient finances to support our sweats to win the election. Some demurrers may be well- innovated, I’ve no quarrel with that, but the propensity of this, that people just assume it’s the ruling party.”

Entering the Ekiti APC guardianship flag deliverer, Buhari noted that Oyebanji’s guardianship would be a durability of service since he’d served in several capacities, including as Chief of Staff, manager, and Secretary to the State Government.

He wished the seeker the stylish of luck.

Adamu was accompanied to the Presidential Villa by the Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’Forum,Dr. Kayode Fayemi; Kebbi State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’Forum, Atiku Bagudu; and the National Secretary of the APC, Senato

Meanwhile, the apex Igbo socio-artistic organisation, Ohanaeze Ndgibo Worldwide, and thepan-Yoruba socio-artistic group, Afenifere, knocked Adamu for saying the APC was undecided on what zone the presidential ticket of the party would go to.

The spokesperson for Ohanaeze, Chief Alex Ogbonnia, said in a telephone discussion with one of our reporters that the APC was “ faltering and separating like a pendulum,” because it knew the verity.

He prompted the ruling party to be wise and do the right thing for equity and fairness to all the regions. Ogbonnia stated, They know the verity, that’s why they’re moving left, right, and centre like a pendulum. It isn’t good that this should be the identity of the APC.

“ The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, is the leader of the party moment. He should step by and take opinions just like former President Olusegun Obasanjo took the decision in 2006 that a northerner should be the President since he was from the South.

On account of the power-pivot standard settled upon by the party, the Presidency needed to move toward the North. Everyone’s attention is on Buhari to do toward the South-East how Obasanjo treated the North-West. They’ve seen the verity and do n’t want to accept it.

The Secretary-General of Afenifere,Dr. Sola Ebiseni, said Adamu’s statement didn’t come to the group as a surprise.

Noting that the country was bigger than any one particular group, Ebiseni stated, That the new public president of the APC is now wavering on the zoning of its presidential ticket to the South.

After he has secured his own position grounded on that understanding didn’t come to us in the Afenifere as a surprise because we saw it coming and our leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, has used every available platform to advise those who may be so deceived.

These are all permutations driving towards the ultimate decision on what Nigeria will make of itself.

While it may sound prophetic that having shifted the party positions between the North and the South, the positions in government similar as the President,Vice-President, Senate President, and Speaker of the House of Representatives will inversely be so changed by the party;

The prized seat of the President and the Leviathan powers at its command are too tempting to be allowed to pass by those who believe Nigeria is their exclusive estate. This is the reason behind the deliberate resistance to restructuring.

Ebiseni further stated that for the country to survive as a commercial reality, true federalism must be ennobled, and all regions must have equal openings for all the ethnical ethnicities and citizens.

Also speaking, the spokesperson for the Pan Niger Delta Forum,Mr. Ken Robinson, noted that the vacillation by the ruling APC was gratuitous, asleep and fully out of place.

The public chairmanship position was zoned to the South, where Pa Akande surfaced as the interim public president before a former governor of Edo State and also latterly, Adams Oshiomole.

Moment, they’ve reversed those positions before enthralled by southern Nigerians and given them to the North. It is, thus, anticipated that the administration will go to southern Nigeria.

Still, that’s inferior, If the public president of the party is now saying they’re undecided. It’s fully out of place. It’s inconsistent and is against protocols that have been established since 1979 and zoning since independence.

He stressed that if the APC ultimately threw the race open, it would be a call for further souring, dissension, and extremity that have formerly gulfed our country.

We didn’t promise South Presidential Ticket – APC

Still, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, the spokesperson for the Coalition of Northern Groups, a empire of over 40pro-North bodies, said the APC didn’t promise any region the administration.

He noted that the stylish move for all political parties was to throw the ticket open so that campaigners could crop on merit.

He stated, As far as the CNG is concerned, that’s the proper thing to do. We’ve noway had faith in that zoning arrangement that doesn’t actually look at the merit of campaigners but their region, religion, or lineage.

We’ve each on been of the view that until that day when we’re suitable to handpick a leader we can each trust and calculate on as a Nigerian President, also we haven’t reached true nationhood.

“ In any case, there’s no substantiation that the APC had in the first place bound itself to any arrangement on zoning or gyration of power on a indigenous base. That arrangement had all along been most pronounced in the PDP and indeed they couldn’t get it right.

The agreement was admired only in the first four times of Obasanjo and it came shaky towards the end of his alternate term with the notorious third term docket, which was abandoned.
