2023: I Won’t Step Down For Anybody, Except Jonathan – Gov Bala The Bauchi state Governor Bala Mohammed, says he’d only consider stepping down his presidential
The Bauchi state Governor Bala Mohammed, says he’d only consider stepping down his presidential ambition in 2023 if former President Goodluck Jonathan indicates interest in querying for the position.
The governor said this when he featured on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, explaining that his station is grounded on respect for Jonathan who appointed him as the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in 2010.
“ He’s one of those persons I admire most in this country. He’s the most reputed person I’ve because I surfaced and came to public spotlight through him,” the governor said after months of enterprise that Jonathan may join the race.
“Absolutely, I have come to lay out a family relationship with him and to me, he can’t be in the race and I will be in the race, out of regard and unobtrusiveness.
I have given him sufficient opportunity and he has asked me to go on and I have felt free to even gotten another weight now; the command of my elderly folks to proceed. So, if Jonathan is running, it’s a veritably big problem to me.”
I stand by my commitment not to dispute against Jonathan,” the governor maintained. While the two main political parties in the country haven’t officially zoned the presidential seat, the governor says he doesn’t believe in the power-sharing deal.
Nigeria, he argued, needs someone who can lead the nation irrespective of where similar person hails from.
This comes days after the former minister and former Senate President Bukola Saraki were named by the Northern Elders Forum as the agreement campaigners for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
